MYTHOLOGY - GANESHA

Ganesha goes around the world

Narad Muni once gave Lord Shiva a fruit and asked him to give to the person he likes most. Lord Shiva decided to test his sons and told them that who will around the world first will be the one who wins. Lord Ganesha went around his parents and said that he had gone around the world.

Ganesha and Kuber

Kuber invited Shiva and Parvathy to his residence to show of his riches. But the couple denied his request and told him that he could feed Ganesha instead. Kuber said that he had room for thousands more children. When Kuber started feeding Ganesha the later exhausted all his food and the situation came to that Ganesha wanted to eat Kuber. Kuber asked his forgivness from Lord Shiva.

Ganesha and the moon

On day Ganesha after eating a very heavy meal returned home and on his way his stomach burst. It was during the night hence he tied his stomach with a snake. The moon saw this and burst out laughing. Ganesha got angry and curse him that he will become invisible. Moon asked for forgiveness and since Ganesha could not take back his curse, he said that the moon will be invisible during one day of the month.
