MYTHOLOGY - HANUMAN

Hanuman was born to Anjana, a apsara who was transformed into a monkey by a curse and Vayu. Hanuman is believed to have his flying abilities due to his father. Lord Hanuman was a true devotee of Lord Rama. He is considered as a avatar of Shiva. He had once swallowed the sun thinking it was a fruit. Hanuman had the power to become bigger and bigger. He was sent as a spy to Lanka to see Sita. He found her there and gave her the ring that Lord Rama gave him. Exited by his victory he took up a fight with Meghnath and he won over him. But unfortunately he was caught by Ravana’s guards. The guards where advised by Ravana to set his tail on fire. But Hanuman made his tail very long and became small and set himself free. He then set fire on the whole Lanka with the fore on his tail. The biggest deed performed by Hanuman was getting the Sanjeevani buti for a fatal wound of Lakshman. He reached the Himalayas to get the butis but as he was confused which one was it he got the whole mountain for Lakshman.
