MYTHOLOGY - KRISHNA

Lord krishna’s birth

Lord Krishna was born in the holy town of Mathura to Vasudev and Devaki. His uncle Kansa had been informed by magical powers that his sisters 8th son will kill him. After having killed 7 of devaki’s children Kansa was ready to kill Lord Krishna during his birth. Vasudev was advised to take the Lord to Vrindavan and exchange him for another baby there. Magically when Krishna was born all the guards of the prison fell asleep and all the gates of the prison opened to take Vasudev with baby Krishna to Vrindavan. He took him through the river Yamuna and placed him in the bed of Yasodara and took her baby girl with him.

Krishna’s encounter with Putana

Kamsa appointed demon Putana to kill Lord Krishna. The demon took the form of a beautiful lady and filled her nipples with poison. She reached thus to Yashodara’s house and took the baby Krishna to feed him. But unfortunately the baby sucked out blood from her body and killd her.

Krishna’s encounter with Agarsura

Krishna was playing along with his other friends by a river side. Just then their ball fell into a nearby lake. Krishna decided to dive in and fetch the ball. Here in the lake he was attached by demon Agarsura who was in the form of a snake. But Krishna fought him bravely and kept getting bigger and bigger and killed him.

Krishna lifts Goverdhan

Lord Indra was worshipped by the people of Vrindavan to give them good rainfall. On day Krishna told his father Nanda to offer sacrifice to Goverdhan hills for the same. Lord Indra got very angry at this and he bestowed heavy rainfall on Vrindavan. All the people got scared and asked Krishna for help. Miraculously Krishna lifted Goverdhan with one finger and used it as an umbrella to save the people of Vrindavan. Lord Indra realized his mistake and apologized for the same.


Killing of Kansa

Kansa was informed by Narad muni that Krishna was his sister Devaki’s 8th son and he was told about the incident that happened when Krishna was born. Kansa got angry at this and sent his sister and brother-in-law to jail. He called Krishna and Balram to fight a battle in Mathura. So did Krishna and Balram. They fought Kansa’s demon and effortlessly won against them. Krishna then attached Kansa and killed him.
